Job Description

Assist management to ensure quality service according to customer’s requirements and compliance with our integrity programs with regards to draft surveys and hold cleanliness of vessels in accordance with International Standards and Company QA Policies.

• Attend to inspection for Draft Surveys, On-Hire Condition Surveys and Hold Cleanliness of vessels in accordance with International Standards and Company QA Policies and mandate given by the principal.  To ensure that reports are handed in good time and correct & signed off by the vessel crew.  To ensure compliance with all the requirements of the client and Port regulations.  Keep branch manager informed regarding progress and/or nonconformance.  Liaise with the Admin Co-Ordinator in all respects of documentation requested and relevant reporting  Submit expense sheets at month end.  Liaise with the Admin Co-Ordinator in ensuring efficient operations.  Adhere to and maintain relevant parts of the Quality Policies of the Division.  Assist in continuously upgrading the quality services offered, in support of “Customer Services” policy and minimize client complaints and claims.  Assist the Branch Manager with any inspection work other than described above, whenever required.  To ensure the integrity is always maintained.  Ensure that all procedures are followed.  Ensure equipment is maintained and register is updated accordingly.  Ensure that all SGS equipment is respected and maintained in good working order.  Adhere to all reasonable instructions, not covered by the above, as issued by the Sr. Marine Surveyor or Branch Manager.  Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.  Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager

Qualifications

• Matric / Grade 12 with Maths and Science

• Draft Survey experience minimum of 2 years  Theory an advantage  Good communication and interpersonal skills  Computer literacy and typing skills – Word and Excel  Calculation capability  Valid passport an advantage  Language: Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write)  Any other languages will be an added advantage  Valid driver’s license and in possession of own transport
